WHY: Surfrider Beach continues to be one of the state's most polluted beaches.
CHECK OUT THESE STATS:
. 1999-2009: "F" water quality grades 51% during dry weather
. 2009: violated water quality standards 64 times during dry weather
. 2008: violated water quality standards 74 times during dry weather
. 2007: violated water quality standards 14 times during dry weather
WHAT CAN YOU DO?

LA's Regional Water Quality Board needs to know that the surfing community wants clean water at Surfrider Beach. They've proposed a prohibition on area septic tanks to help clean the water at Lower Malibu Creek, Malibu Lagoon, and Surfrider Beach. THIS IS IMPORTANT. The Water Board is the 'buck stops here' agency mandated to protect resources (like Surfrider) with respect to water quality.
We will get clean water by asking for it in large numbers. Over three thousand people attended the Coastal Commission hearings to fight for Trestles. And it worked. We need the same effort to protect SURFRIDER BEACH!
